FYI recently celebrated the many achievements Country music entrepreneur Ron Kitchener has had in the weekly feature, 5 Questions with. Subsequent to, Kitchener’s company RGK Entertainment Group won Management Company of The Year at the recent CCMA Awards’ annual in Edmonton — for the 13th straight time and 14th overall. Add to this, his label, Open Road Recordings, won Record Label of The Year for the 6th straight year and artists’ Tim Hicks won Rising Artist of the Year and Dean Brody Album of the Year for Crop Circles. During the run-up to the Country Music Awards, Open Road hosted a jam packed Friday night party at Knoxville’s featuring performances from most of the roster capped off by the “talk of the weekend” with a performance by Scrap Metal lead by Klaus Van Hammerstein (aka Jason McCoy) and his Road Hammers doing justice to covers by Judas Priest, Kiss and Van Halen. Scrap Metal accepted gold awards for The Road Hammers’ recent “Mud” single backstage. In case you’re wondering, the straight guy in the centre is Ron.
